Noelani Puniwai was raised among the forests and coastlines of Puna, Hawaiʻi Island, and currently lives near Makuʻu with her three children. She brings her love of the ocean to her students at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies, where she teaches courses in mālama ʻāina and aloha Kanaloa.
